How is working from home going for you? I don’t know about you but my productivity has started to slide of late, so this week I’m refocusing. If you’re wondering how to work from home, here are some tips to get you through another week of working from home…
1. Establish your own routine
Try to stick to your usual sleep & work patterns. Of course you can relax these a bit (I know I have) but keep the main parts happening daily ie. breakfast, exercise, work hours etc. But most importantly when your workday stops, you stop working too.
2. Find a cute transitional PJ set
Sleeping & working in the same space can cause the lines to be blurred. Though some would like to throw off the shackles of civility and get something cute and furry like this in an adult size for cozy home working, however it may cause complications when you’re needed on a video call. Working in pyjamas all day can be tiresome for some and therefore it is best to set yourself a rule when it comes to getting dressed. I have been living in these Homebodii personalised PJs for most of isolation and they can even transition into cute daytime outfits too, like pairing this personalised top with you fave pair of jeans. That is why having nice PJ’s is such a good idea! If you want something that’s comfy and stylish in equal measure, then silk sleepwear is the way forward in my eyes. And remember, changing it up will help reset your mind during the day and keep you looking cute in all those zoom meetings.
3. Give yourself regular breaks
Take regular breaks away from the screen. Having a cute, furry friend like Pretzel here can certainly assist with this. Go for a walk, lie in the park, read a book or do some stretches. Or try to keep your mind active with puzzles, crosswords, sudokos or even try your hand at painting! Taking time to concentrate on something else will help you feel more focused when you return.
4. Talk about your worries
It’s VERY VERY normal to feel worried, scared or even helpless about the current situation. It’s ok to share your concerns. If you cannot speak to someone you know or if doing so has not helped, there are plenty of helplines you can try instead.
5. Look after your body
Our physical health has a HUGE impact on how we feel. It’s VERY easy to fall into unhealthy patterns (I know my chocolate consumption has increased) but try to keep some balance. Keep moving most days if you can. One of my best purchases I made was getting a watercoolers where there are many watercoolers by KingsWater and other places for sale. This helped me because it ensured that I was drinking plenty water throughout the day instead of running backwards and forwards to the tap every hour.
6. Do not stay glued to the news
I’ve stopped spending every spare second watching, reading or listening to coverage of the outbreak & it has been refreshing. Obviously, still stay informed but avoid being overwhelmed. Turn off the news, focus on the job at hand & you’ll find working from home can be even more productive than in the office!
