Let me introduce you to Kuwaii’s locally designed and produced AW13 collection, Regalia. I was lucky enough to enjoy a delightful afternoon of high tea with the splendid Kuwaii team while viewing their newest range.

Conjuring the easy elegance of the usually formal tailored pants and tweed coats, this collection trades stiff backs and rigid formality for soft silhouettes and fine cuts. This is the apparel for the modern woman. Regalia encapsulates the wardrobe of weekend royalty. These seemingly casual but ever-so-refined garments featured in this collection are imbued with a relaxed poise, illustrating the trademark skill of balancing luxury design and finishings with subtle delicacy for which Kuwaii is renowned.

The palette is restrained, designed for monochromatic and uncomplicated dressing. An ultra-saturated teal stands stark against subdued pastels of dusty lavender, carnation pink & buttery daffodil. Sharp tailoring creates precise shapes and classic silhouettes are graciously adorned with subtle details including sheer panelling and delicate cut-out sleeves. Nipped waists and pert collars are paired with raglan-sleeve seams while soft knits are begging to be slung over perfectly-postured shoulders. Imperial tweeds court with slub silks and jodphur-esque tights speak to the relaxed regality of the upper class on an autumn sojurn. The collection is complete with a new edition to Kuwaii’s increasingly popular footwear range: the platform morris boot, which is sturdy yet elegant and oh-so comfortable.

Kuwaii has an online store as well as two boutiques in Melbourne CBD and Brunswick. The lookbook and range will be released this january however pre-orders are available by contacting Kuwaii directly (contact@kuwaii.com.au). I definitely have my eyes on the pastel pink sweater dress and the magnificent imperial trench jacket…xx
